Welcome To My Home Page
Hello, my name is Helen King, better know to my college chums as PsychoHippieGrandma: 1) yes, I am a grandma 2) yes, I am a hippie/flower child 3) since I am not the average, tame, stay-at-home gramdma, I must be crazy? NOT EVEN. As with all nicknames, there is a story behind it, and as a storyteller, I love to tell it. But that is for another time, we will get to tales of my escapades later. I am also a poet and an anthropologist. Writing has always been part of my life, no matter where we lived when we traveled the world on the coattails of my father's military career. My mother was from England, which meant we spent a lot of years in Europe, England, and the Mediterranean in order to visit my British grandparents on a somewhat regular basis. I grew up running the back streets and alleys of such places as London, Paris and Izmir (Turkey). College was not part of my life till my children were in high school. Anthropology came naturally to me, I had an insatiable curiosity about the places and peoples seen during childhood travels. Poetry was a natural outlet for impressions, ideas, and stories about childhood escapades. These pages are dedicated to both of my late-in-life passions: writing (mostly poetry) and cultural studies. |
Still under construction: please be patient
The story behind my nickname is a bit lengthy and yet to be written down, but will in the near future appear in full sequal (two part) detail.
