Whirlwind Trip to Africa

An amazing opportunity offered by the University of TXat Arlington allowed me to participate in a research project which took me to Cape Town, South Africa,

just as Mandella signed the new constitution; to Johannesburg, South Africa, for more amazing experiences; and to Accra, Ghana, to visit the Univ. of Ghana.

I met many people from all walks of life, from children to medical doctors to Sangomas, traditional healers. Below are the sights and sounds of Africa,

both rich and poor.

Images will be rotated onto this page periodically.

What I remember about Cape Town
This is a range of mountains, called Table Mountain,
that follows a horseshoe shape, and into which
Cape Town snuggly nestles. The cloud cover
creeping over the mountain tops is called
The Table Cloth!
The Tablecloth decends every evening
With it comes an evening rain, every night, at 6 PM. Very predictable, brief and refreshing.
The bay off the coast of Cape Town

We went wading in the waters where two oceans

meet here at the southern tip of the African continent.

This island in the bay was once a leper colony
It was also the island prison where Mandella was held for so many years.
